Test of Tokina AT-X 535 Pro DX AF 50-135 mm f/2.8
11. Summary
- excellent image quality in the center for all apertures,
- very good image quality at the edge,
- very small chromatic aberration for medium focal lengths,
- properly corrected coma and astigmatism,
- high build quality,
- tripod collar and lens hood cap "in the box".
Cons:
- glares when taking photos against bright light,
- AF not very accurate.
Very good image quality in the center and at the edge and good build quality are the biggest advantages of Tokina 50-135 mm. Even semi-pro photographer may think of buying it instead of some prime lenses with 50 to 135 mm focal lengths. Professional user can see difference between this tele zoom and primes but this difference is not big. For pro users the biggest drawback is that this lens will not work with full frame camera. Some people can be disappointed with AF behavior because it is significantly less accurate, slower and louder then its Canon, Nikon or even Sigma counterparts equipped with USM/SWM/HSM.
